Outside Counsel Service

Outside Counsel Service

Your legal department, without the payroll.

Most growing businesses do not need a full-time lawyer. They need a lawyer who already knows their business and can answer the question in front of them today. That is what outside counsel service provides: an experienced business attorney functioning as an extension of your team, available when a decision, a document, or a deadline calls for legal judgment.

No Availability Retainer

We do not charge a subscription or an availability retainer to keep us on call. You are not paying for access you may never use. You engage us, we learn your business, and you reach out when something comes up. Work is billed as it is performed, under terms agreed in writing before we start.

One Attorney Who Knows Your Business

Your matters are handled by Sofia Lingos, the firm’s Managing Attorney. Nothing is handed down to a rotating associate. That continuity is the point. By the third or fourth call we already know your ownership structure, your key contracts, your partners, and what you are trying to build, so the advice starts from context instead of from a blank page.

How It Works

  1. Introductory call. We talk through what you are building and where the risk sits, and confirm we are the right fit.
  2. Engagement agreement. Scope and fee arrangement in writing before any work begins.
  3. Ongoing access. Reach out as questions arise, project by project, with no minimum commitment and no standing fee.

How You Are Billed

Defined, predictable projects are quoted at a flat rate wherever possible. Ongoing advising, negotiations involving opposing counsel, and matters with evolving scope are billed hourly, with detailed statements showing the time spent and the work performed. Full detail is on our Transparent Billing & Payment Options page.

Scope of Practice

Trident Legal is a transactional business law firm practicing primarily in Massachusetts. Where a matter calls for counsel in another jurisdiction or for courtroom representation, we tell you and connect you with someone who does that work.
